I’ve dedicated my career to helping people whose lives will never be the same in the wake of tragedy caused by negligence or wrongdoing, and I could not have more confidence in the legal talent we’ve assembled to continue the firm’s reputation for excellence and legacy of success. Our knowledge of the law, aggressive trial skills and compassionate client care give our clients an impressive leg up on the competition.

John Stevenson Jr.

John Stevenson is the founding partner of Stevenson & Murray. He was admitted to the practice of law in 1982 before embarking on an impressive career that has spanned three decades in personal injury and maritime law.

John was born in Fort Worth and raised in the East Texas town of Nacogdoches. He attended Trinity University in San Antonio, where he graduated magna cum laude in 1979 with his bachelor of arts degree. He moved to Houston to attend law school at the University of Houston Law Center, winning moot court and mock trial championships and achieving selection to the prestigious Order of the Barristers.

John began practicing law at Ross, Griggs & Harrison with a focus primarily on insurance defense, product liability, and oil field defense matters. He first formed his own firm in 1987, striking out to champion the rights of personal injury victims. Success came early to John, whose hard work and skill resulted in multimillion dollar verdicts for victims of traumatic brain injuries, severe back and neck injuries, and wrongful death. John’s victories soon established his firm as a leading personal injury firm in Houston and across the Gulf Coast, particularly in maritime and offshore cases but later extending to complex personal injury cases across many industries and specialties. Throughout his career, John has negotiated multimillion dollar settlements with virtually all major insurance companies and many of the largest corporations around the world.
