We’ll Be Wearing Red this Friday!
February is National Heart Month, and Stevenson & Murray is proud to support the American Heart Association this month and all year long. With cardiovascular disease leading the way as the nation’s number one killer, we appreciate the need to advocate for better education, support and research into heart health and the prevention of heart disease and stroke.
Leading the month off is National Wear Red Day Feb. 2, a national movement by the American Heart Association to bring attention to heart disease in women. The first National Wear Red Day began 15 years ago, and since then more women than ever know their risk factors as well as how heart disease often presents differently in women. Learn more here.
We’ll be wearing red at the office this Friday to help bring awareness to women’s heart health. Won’t you join us?
Murray to Present at Advanced Employment Law CLE
Mark Murray is pleased to be among the presenters at the Texas Bar CLE’s 26th Annual Advanced Employment Law course. Murray’s popular “Top 10 Ways to Avoid a Meeting with the State Bar of Texas CDC” will be the featured luncheon presentation on the Thursday of each course. The schedule follows:
Cosponsored by the Labor and Employment Law Section of the State Bar of Texas, the course is approved by the Texas Bar Association for MCLE credit hours and may be viewed from a computer or mobile device. For more information, call 800.204.2222 x1574 or click here to view the course brochure.
Summer School Is In!
Stevenson & Murray is a proud silver sponsor of the Texas Bar College’s 19th Annual Summer School July 13-15 at Moody Gardens Hotel in Galveston, Texas. The firm’s own Mark Murray serves on the course’s planning committee and will present “Motions for New Trial—The New Standard” at the course.
The course satisfies MCLE credits through the Texas Bar College and the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Every active State Bar of Texas member must complete a minimum of 15 hours in each compliance year.
The course’s attractive venue and relaxed time of year make it a popular choice among Texas lawyers. Families and guests can take advantage of the many attractions in Galveston—including Moody Gardens, the fun-filled Pleasure Pier, ghost tours of Galveston Island and the Strand Historic District—and course registration includes a family-friendly party by the pool with food and refreshments. As with other CLE courses, the presentations are available for download and by webinar for those who cannot attend in person. Click here for a course brochure and more information.

We Support Dress for Success Houston
Stevenson & Murray proudly supports the work of Dress for Success Houston.
March is Send One Suit month, a drive to support the organization’s mission to help women achieve economic independence so they can thrive in work and life. Established in 2000, the annual campaign encourages businesses and groups in greater Houston to donate money and gently used women’s career clothing and accessories.
In addition to professional clothing, the campaign seeks to collect 3,500 black handbags, 4,000 pairs of closed-toe shoes, 2,400 professional portfolios and 1,000 scarves. Dress for Success uses donations collected this month to provide career clothing and accessories free of charge to women who need help throughout the entire year.
“Our programs equip women with the tools they need to maintain employment and grow in their careers,” Nancy Levicki, the organization’s president and co-founder, said at the campaign’s kickoff event. “A suit may become outdated, but the skills women learn from our programs can last a lifetime.”
“It’s an easy decision to support an organization that helps empower Houston-area women with stronger work skills and better career paths,” said Mark Murray at Stevenson & Murray. “These women’s stories are more than inspiring, and we’re thrilled our contribution can help more women overcome hardship and thrive in our area.”
Many taking part in this year’s programs are U.S. veterans who have successfully transitioned from military service to civilian life. In addition to providing interview-appropriate clothing, Dress for Success offers career services such as job retention and career advancement coaching and professional development.
